About Me

Hi, I’m Zoë.

I love digital media. I’m obsessed with the internet, social media, and how humans respond to it. I’m one of those inbetweeners on the cusp of both millennials and gen-z who grew up without the internet but had a Facebook account by middle school. I lived through the explosion of social media and I’ve been around long enough to see trends come and go and come back again. I could talk for hours about the linguistic evolution of slang online or the post-modern expressionism of memes and I’m the first the update my friends to latest digital trends.

In June of 2020, graduated from Southern Oregon University with a degree in business marketing and English literature. By the time I graduated college, I was interning in the marketing department of a Fortune 500 company, BD, at its subsidiary FlowJo, where I held my first official digital marketing title. I learned a lot in that role, taking on projects like collaborating across departments to produce an educational video series, fully revamping digital content strategy, writing blog posts, connecting with customers, and leading in-person marketing events.

Jumping off my corporate experience after graduation, I began freelancing for companies like Calliope Studio Co, an artist collective made up of young women in the SF Bay Area. They were a brand new company, passionate about their products but at a loss in terms of branding and marketing. I took the reins and created the digital identity of Calliope Studio Co: creating a website, establishing a voice and tone, curating a social media presence, writing SEO optimized blog posts and product descriptions, and designing product packaging.

During my WFH downtime in the summer of 2020, I launched my passion project, an online vintage store called RetroProspect. In part a side-hustle to fund my affinity for midcentury modern home decor and partly an exploration of the branded behind the scenes of the Instagram algorithm. Working for myself, I had the freedom to get experimental, exploring every dimension Instagram could offer, creating a series of seamless images that stood out both on their own and combined to form a larger mural-like cohesive image on the brand’s profile.

When I’m not scouring Instagram, writing blog posts, or deep in analysis of the latest social media platform, you can find me exploring the Pacific Northwest, advocating for independent bookstores, and pining over midcentury Danish furniture.
